Anti-Climax: The whole game is this for the entire Tiberian series. Animal Motifs: Nod Offense division has several units based on spiders. The game offers absolutely no explanation for the reason of its entire premise, and the answer for why Tiberium suddenly started growing so quick can only be found in an interview on a now-defunct website. 
The most glaring example is the reason for the massive acceleration of Tiberium growth, or rather, the lack of one.
